About Dr. Parnell

Dr. Parnell grew up in Massachusetts and attended Providence College in RI, where she obtained a B.A in Chemistry and a B.S. in Biology. She returned to Massachusetts to earn her DVM from Tufts Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. She spent the next decade in general practice and emergency medicine in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.

Dr. Parnell has always had an interest in canine physical rehabilitation ever since an externship in veterinary school at a local canine physical rehabilitation department. She was a big proponent of it for her patients in practice and personally saw the difference it made for her own dog (a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Abby).

In 2020, she decided to pursue physical rehabilitation certification so that she could offer the service to her patients. She quickly realized that canine physical rehabilitation and pain management were her true passion. Over the next 4 years, she helped build and run a physical rehabilitation department in a speciality hospital in MA before returning to her home in NH to build and run a rehab and acupuncture service in a general practice.

Since earning her CCRP (Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner) through the University of Tennessee in 2021, she has continued to expand her knowledge in the field and has earned her CVPP (Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner) through the IVAPM, her cVMA (Certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncture) through Curacore, and her CSCC (Certified Canine Strength and Conditioning Coach) through NCSU. She has also done advanced training in manual therapy.

Dr. Parnell is excited to move to Wisconsin and join the team at Midwest Veterinary Specialists. She is passionate about doing all she can to improve her patients’ mobility and quality of life. She has particular interests in osteoarthritis management, pain management, and in rehabilitating soft tissue injuries.

She lives with two dogs, a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Heidi and a pomeranian/poodle mix named Patrick, and her cat Emma. In her free time, she enjoys hiking and kayaking with her dogs, yardwork, reading, and sketching/painting.
